Ethical Reading: Healthy and Ethical Workplaces Open Day

November 20, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm

As part of our Healthy and Ethical workplaces programme we are delighted to invite you to our Support Services Open day at Green Park focussing on mental health and well-being. Several wellbeing services will be on hand to provide information about mental health awareness and we will have also speakers who have had personal experiences of overcoming mental health issues.

Attendees can go to stalls and ask questions about mental health, how it impacts relationships at workplace and society as a whole. The theme of the event:

How can organisations help to protect people’s mental health in a changing world?

From rapid globalisation to the gig economy, work takes up a significant part of people’s lives. In order to increase productivity rates, workers must be physically and mentally healthy. We must reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and our stallholders and our speakers will be very much focussed on doing just that.

Stallholders will include:

– Balance Time Mindfulness

– Berkshire Health Foundation Trust

– Brighter Berkshire

– Charlie Waller Memorial Trust

– Clarks Legal

– Compass Recovery College

– Depression Expression

– Healthwatch

– Reach Remarkable

– South Reading Patient Voice

– St. James’ Place

– IRIS Partnership

– Together for Mental Health

– The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS)

– Well-being Inspire

From 11.30am to 2.30pm, attendees can visit the stalls in the central atrium in Green Park and find out more about mental health issues. Throughout the Open Day in an area close by – The Hive –  we will have speakers giving brief talks on mental health topics.

What you will learn:

There will be exhibitions about mindfulness at work, meditation to relieve stress, improving workplace relations and productivity. There will be an Arts and Craft group work stall. Some of our speakers will speak about their personal experience with mental health problems and how they overcame these barriers.
