November meetup: R-E-S-P-E-C-T
November 27 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Respect, and importantly the lack of it, is personal. It can deeply affect how we feel about ourselves and about those around us. But what is respect? Sometimes people say “you have to earn respect; it’s not a given”. Although this slogan is widely accepted, it doesn’t seem true in all cases. So, it’s important and interesting to think about how respect might vary in different circumstances, why respect is present or lacking and how we respond to it.
6.30-7:00pm: Arrive and meet other attendees and members of the Ethical Reading team
7:00-7:05pm: Welcome and introduction
7:05-7:20pm: Talk by Dr. Charlotte Newey
7:20-8:30pm: Roundtable discussion
8:30pm: For those who wish, please feel free to continue conversations after the formal end of the meetup
